Team VeloSportif take on a new laid back approach to cycling in their North Surrey base. After a successful first year in which our membership grew from the original handful of friends to over 25 members. Our twice weekly evening rides during the warmer months saw large groups of riders out in the north downs. With winter now upon us our regular once a month MTB rides are increasingly popular. Our twice a week evening rides still go ahead through the winter depending on the weather.

Last season we introduced a few of the new guys to competitive cycling and sportives. As well as this a few hard core guys rode from London to Paris in 24 hours, just in time to watch the Tour de France final stage in Paris.

So what's new for 08, well top of list has to be gaining a sponsor. Sherborne Ltd will be backing TVS next year an association we are proud to be part of. Sherborne is a leading company locally in windows and conservatories.
Some riders will be riding the etap, in July taking on a major stage on Tour de France route. Again we aim to get riders out racing in local events, as well as a few guys riding at national level events.

Apart from racing we will be riding in Sportives and Audax events. The MTB scene also seems to be on the up with a few guys trying there hand in the Gorrick series this spring.

Look out for guys in the lanes around our Guildford base, also you may see us further a field, Italy in the spring, France throughout the year (Duo Normand) in September. You cant miss us in our TVS kit. Like all good clubs our members are proud to wear it.

Bike Ride - the final reckoning

Ataxia Crohns Bike Ride.

The amount raised was far in excess of what we had hoped for £40K plus. 22 riders set out and finished, 5 TVS riders rode non stop to Paris. (Well we did stop twice once for the ferry crossing and once to get dry and shelter from the rain at night). Still an outstanding achievement .

Most riders in the first group hadn't cycled before this year, and all made it. Outstanding).

You raised (according to my reckoning) £42,490 including ‘giftaid’ (which needs to be confirmed).

Our costs were £3,880 (I’ve only taken out for the ferry, hotels and minbus), so that leaves £38,600 for NACC and Ataxia UK .

Well done, I really only thought that we’d get to £30,000, so this is more than £500 more each – a fantastic achievement.

Thanks, what you’ve raised will make a real difference to the 2 charities (£19,300 for each charity could pay for a lot of

support, or research for one or all sufferers from Crohns or ataxia.

I’m sure the charities will want to formally thank you, but I thought I’d get in first.  Thanks!

All, (especially the riders!!),

Hope to see as many of you as possible on 17th.

Respect,Andy.

Weekly Rides

As the nights now draw in we will still be riding Tuesday and Thursdays.

We will keep closer to home but still ride for up to 2 hours. We are still in the process of sorting routes for these rides but will update asap.

The Friday night MTB rides are uncertain at this time if anyone’s up for it let us know.

The weekend rides will continue as usual some rides may be as Audax or Sportives as these insure a steadily ride and get the miles in. (Also the rice puddings and teas not bad)
